ABOUT 150 cameras were keeping an eye on the Sydney Harbour and Anzac bridges as part of a large-scale security upgrade, the NSW Government said today.

Premier Bob Carr said the $4.2 million camera network would track moving objects and alert security staff of any out-of-place objects.
The package includes 46 thermal imaging cameras, 98 CCTV cameras and six "help points" - two on Anzac Bridge and four on the Harbour Bridge - to allow commuters to report incidents directly to security staff.
New fencing and anti-climb devices also would be installed to stop thrill-seekers breaking into restricted areas, Mr Carr said.
"While a combination of motion detection video cameras and 24-hour security staff have been used for some time, the introduction of thermal imaging and this new software will take security on the bridges to a whole new level," Mr Carr told Parliament.

The cameras are already in operation.
