Terror suspect Mamdouh Habib has returned to a normal life in Sydney’s southwestern suburbs but remains tight -lipped about wheather he intends to pay back any wrongly collected welfare payments.
Habib emerged from his Guilford home shortly after 8 am yesterday dropping his two young daughters at their respective schools.

Driving a burgundy van bearing green P plates and a rear view mirror hanging that read “100% Habib” he declined to comment to The Daily Telegraph offering a polite but firm “I’m sorry but I can’t speak to you”

He later dropped his wife Maha at Granville TAFE before stopping for petrol and coffee and heading into the city.

Habib has come under fire for claiming $470 a fortnight in disability payments during mysterious expeditions to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile senior Government sources have revealed that testimony from co accused Australian David Hicks and other detainees confirmed Habib was in the Afghan capital Kabul just before the September 11 attacks learning how to select and case buildings as potential targets.

The sources have also ruled out Habib had any prior knowledge of the attacks even though the US has maintained Habib had trained the September 11 terrorists and knew of the attacks.

An official source has also revealed Habib was almost certainly tortured by the Americans in Guantanamo Bay and the Egyptians in Cairo.

The Government has repeatedly denied Habib was mistreated during almost three years in US custody at the terrorist prison in Cuba.
